Cascade Pacific Pulp is looking for an Applications Developer to join our team at our Halsey Pulp Mill! Candidate will process users’ requests to customize software, design prototype applications, implement and test source code, and troubleshoot software applications.

Job Purpose:

Develop application processes and maintain existing in-house applications and SQL databases. The successful candidate will be passionate and open-minded about development with an understanding that all IT solutions exist to serve business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Observe IT security procedures and demonstrate professional ethical standards
  • Understand client requirements and how they translate to application features
  • Provide comprehensive support to internal customers and possess a strong sense of urgency when responding to requests, issues, and potential downtime
  • Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features
  • Accurately document programming and code changes to allow for repeatable processes and cross training
  • Manage and oversee the development and maintenance of the organization’s public web site and online supplier portal
  • Maintain several Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Serve in the on-call rotation with the IT team to ensure that our critical systems remain highly available, and that users working outside of the normal 7AM-5PM hours also have IT support
  • Adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
  • Ensure confidentiality and reliability of corporate data, proprietary information, and intellectual property

Job Qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related discipline
  • 5+ years of current experience as an applications programmer/developer and practical use of the Systems Development Lifecycle
  • Industry certifications are a good complement to your education and experience
  • Excellent written, oral and computer skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Attention to detail and time-management

Job-related Background:

  • Working knowledge of, and experience with, programming methodologies and languages including VB.NET Framework/VB.NET Core/VB.NET (5/6), VBScript and Visual Studio
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with, MS Access/Excel VBA
  • Experience with online development resources including WordPress CMS and PHP/HTML/JS/CSS
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including database design, T-SQL, stored procedures, job scheduling and security
  • Experience with source code management
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Server and Workstation operating systems
