Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position

This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time.

The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a Custom Engineering Engineer for John Deere Earthmoving located in Dubuque, Iowa you will….

  • Participate or lead Continuous Improvement (CI), and Product Delivery Process (PDP) projects as a Design Lead, ensuring design activities and plans are formulated and followed.
  • Lead the development of attachments with Product Lines and global technology centers. Integrate attachments at a system level with Product Engineering, Product Verification and Validation, and Machine Evaluation.
  • Provide problem solving engineering support on new product development and current production attachments (Continuous Improvement Engineering changes).

What Skills You Need

  • 1 or more years of Engineering experience performing analysis, testing and/or design work.(internships, co-op, or work experience)
  • Intermediate Creo (Pro-E) and PDM Link skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to be self-directed and motivated.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with suppliers to develop products.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (both domestic and internationally). Typically, less than 10%.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Earthmoving or Agricultural product design experience.
  • Experience with the design, testing, and manufacturing of structures, hydraulics, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with ground engagement tools and wear part development.
  • Knowledge of FEA and stress testing processes.
  • Experience leading cross functional projects.


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural Engineering.
