This position will sit in either Florence, KY, Milwaukee or Union Grove, WI.

About the Design Engineer II role:

Power Transmission Solutions is a division of Regal and is a major producer of mechanical power transmission drives, components and bearings. This position is within our System Plast technology team focusing primarily on our unit material handling conveyance product line including the innovative Modsort transfer system. This position will be responsible for designing and creating complete and accurate 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies that specify dimensional requirements, materials, and other required engineering information with little or no supervision. Provide technical support and assistance to Design Engineers, Manufacturing, Quality, Application Engineering, Marketing, Sales and customers

Develop detailed CAD models, multi-view assembly drawings and specifications in accordance with Engineering and other published Standards (e.g. AGMA, ASTM) with a minimum amount of supervision, working from quotations, Engineer’s notes, concept sketches, calculations, and/or verbal instructions.

Organize and assemble engineering documentation for manufacturing paperwork

Calculates and lay out dimensions, angles, curvature of parts, relationships of one part to another, and relationships of various parts of a project utilizing knowledge of mathematics, materials, manufacturing technology, and related physical sciences. Use CAD tools to verify fits and functions of assembled product

Establish tolerances using knowledge of components used and intended function in conjunction with knowledge of process capabilities in manufacturing

Create final detailed drawings linked to the 3D CAD models using standard drafting and design techniques to release product to manufacturing for production. Create BOM for complete product

Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors that may affect designs and the procedures or instructions required to create them

Review proposed design changes for effect on form, fit, and function and product line consistency and process design revisions following established procedures

Works to solve manufacturing, inspection, cost reduction, and design problems in conjunction with Engineering

Initiate part number set-up in accordance with Engineering Standards

Provide engineering support as required for New Product Development design projects

Provide engineering support as required for manufacturing practice support

Help foster and nurture an innovative engineering environment

Qualifications:

Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering preferred

5+ years of experience in design/drafting mechanical products/assemblies; Unit material handling market experience preferred

Proficient in Microsoft products: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Proficient with PTC Creo, AutoCAD, Solid Works

Above average verbal and written communication skills

Ability to get along well with others

Can effectively function in a matrix and team environment​
