Desktop Engineer II

DUTIES: Herc Rentals Employee Services LLC is seeking a Desktop Engineer II (Bonita Springs, FL) to monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all deployed desktop solutions and associated end point maintenance. Contribute and maintain an end user compute roadmap. Develop endpoint computing strategy and business cases. Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and endpoint computing goals, and to identify and resolve endpoint business issues. Design and deploy new endpoint applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems. Design, architect, and implement defensive security controls for endpoints, Desktop as a Service and VDI Solutions. Regularly review ServiceNow incidents for failure pattern and problem identification. Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to operational and deployment teams. Design, create, test, implement and oversee the deployment of software packages, patching and remediation of end point vulnerability. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to endpoint configuration, roadmap, mapping, processes, and service records. Review, test and implement proposed and approved endpoint security configuration. 10% domestic and 10% international travel required.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science and 5 years of desktop engineering experience. Must have experience in: Overseeing the design, development, and implementation of endpoint, applications, and related products; Working in an environment larger than 5,000 end points; Software packaging, testing and deployment leveraging scripts; Implementing and deploying physical endpoint, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Desktop As A Service (DaaS); Managing end user experience through usage of Group Policies; Enterprise image management, deployment, and maintenance; Creating presentation material and analyzing data using the Microsoft office products; Data privacy practices and laws; Conducting research into systems issues and products; Communicating ideas in both technical and user-friendly language; Scripting languages to develop automation; Intune, Endpoint Configuration Manager (ECM) and Dell Workspace; Enterprise solutions such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix VDI, or VMWare VDI; Using scripting PowerShell to automate tasks; and Windows registry. Employer will accept 2 years of work experience in lieu of each year not completed toward the degree requirement. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.
