This position will provide embedded software engineering expertise during the engineering design, specification, implementation, and operations of new and existing agricultural equipment products. To successfully build, test and evaluate component and composite prototypes ensuring that all design goals and requirements are met. Additionally, this role will deliver software technical support for both our internal and external customers. Ensure safe and industry engineering codes, standards, practices and design guides for software systems are in place. Develop proprietary software by writing and perfecting code and must have a great understanding of technologies that exist.
Conducting and managing root cause analyses and resolution of software-related issues, including any design changes required to existing equipment. Provide engineering services to Materials, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Construction, and others. Coordinate development projects and recommend product opportunities.
What You Will Be Doing
-Design, develop, code-review, and test embedded software targeting both products for sale and internal test equipment and tools.
-Work across a range of hardware and OS environments ranging from bare-metal micro-controllers, to embedded Linux devices, to Linux/Android applications
-Develop and validate information needed for engineering analysis, including root cause analysis, and apply engineering judgment to solve complex technical problems.
-Effectively work on challenging, fast paced projects, in both independent and team environments
-Conduct project meetings with key stakeholders.
-Estimates project work content and assists in creation of development schedules.
-Contribute to a professional leadership environment; one that promotes and upholds company values and business-critical objectives.
-Work with cross-functional engineering team including mechanical, controls, software, and quality and program management for design analysis, simulation, field tests, and certification/compliance tests.
What You Need for this Position
-Bachelor’s degree with a field of study in Computer/Software Engineering
-5 or more years of industry experience in the software development field
-Proficiency in embedded C/C++ development
-Knowledge and development experience on Linux operating systems
-Ability to utilize scripting languages such as Python/Shell for prototyping, testing, or data analysis
-Experience debugging embedded/complex software environments in an efficient manner
-Experience with Agile Software Development
-Working knowledge and exposure to embedded hardware and software
-Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to break complex opportunities/issues/obstacles down into executable action items.
