Engineer I
Job Description:
1) Program and configure dataloggers for deployment based on data and measurement needs.
2) Test, calibrate, and install instruments in agricultural and natural systems.
3) Collect soil, plant, water, weather, and topographical data.
4) Post-process and compile data including QA/QC of data.
5) Conduct plant, soil, and water sampling.
6) Work with research team to develop sampling, data collection, and processing protocols.
7) Supervise field staff.
8) Manage and maintain instruments used by the water resources program to include maintaining inventory, determining if instruments need to be calibrated, and caring for the instruments through all operable stages including testing, transportation, deployment, and storage.
9)Assist with analysis of data and preparing documents.
Note that duties may change depending on the needs of the Water Resources Program. Will require travel to offsite fields which will require driving state vehicles.
Expected Salary:
$45,600.00 to $60,000 annually
Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in agricultural/civil/environmental/biological engineering or Agricultural Operations and Management or earth sciences (agronomy/soil and water science/environmental/geology or other related discipline) with adequate experience in instrumentation, data logger programming, and data collection.
Working knowledge of at least one computer programming language.
Previous experience in areas of modern instrumentation, sensors, dataloggers, and their programming.
Working knowledge of GIS software and UAVs.
Ability and experience working in farm or open field environments;
Able to lift up to 50 lbs
Background in agricultural and natural resources or environmental sciences.
Knowledge of the terminology, principles, and techniques used in research analysis or testing.
Ability to perform statistical analysis.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
