Job Description
As the Environmental Engineer II, you will implement the long-term vision, strategy, and standards to drive best practices and continuous improvement within the Environmental, ISO 14000 and Responsible Care areas. Protects the environment and maintains regulatory compliance. Determines and reports compliance and obtains permits.

- Accountable for performance to KPI’s.
- Ensure compliance to applicable laws and regulations
- Stay current in all applicable regulations (both federal and state) in the environmental field.
- Determine and assure compliance for emissions, permitting, engineering projects and daily manufacturing activities.
- Gather data, develop programs, and prepare reports/surveys to assure that plant operations are conducted within regulatory, corporate, and Responsible Care guidelines.
- Maintain liaison with agency personnel, network of industry Environmental professionals through interactive participation in trade association committees, state/area conferences, and agency stakeholders.
- Management Rep. for ISO 14001 standard & maintaining program, needs assessment and awareness.
- Oversee management of change activities with regard to environmental impacts and regulatory needs.
- Responsible Care code steward including pollution prevention.
- Respond to and resolve community complaints.
- Conduct internal and off-site waste disposal audits.
- Compliance to Risk management Plan
- TSCA PMN & 8C compliance
- Evaluate needs and assists in planning and implementation of site Training Requirements to assure compliance with EPA & OSHA regulations.
- Evaluate plant environmental data and report promptly all excursions from applicable standards or regulations.
- PHA team member for Enviro and Community impact assessment & advice.
- Maintain Chemical Weapons inspection readiness
- Facilitates the EMS.
- Direct responsibility to communicate applicable environmental regulations and permit conditions to site personnel and for providing guidance, tools, and support necessary for the Gallipolis Ferry Plant to ensure continued compliance
- Continually evaluate proposed facility operational and physical modifications for regulatory compliance and manage any required permitting
- Work closely with site personnel, contractors, and government agencies to achieve the company vision and goals
- Develop and implement environmental management programs and procedures at all levels of the plant site to increase technical knowledge and develop spirit that environmental excellence is important element of Operational Excellence
- Lead/support environmental initiatives, environmental capital and maintenance projects
- Determine pre-shipment waste acceptability and establish appropriate disposition in accordance with regulatory and company requirements
- Identify and authorize disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
- Interpret analytical data and advise appropriate personnel in waste disposal decisions.
- Work with Supply Chain and Production Dept to streamline approvals and resolve analytical issues regarding waste.
- Determine disposal site capabilities and limitations. Resolve waste acceptance discrepancies working with both on site and off site personnel
- Complete other projects as directed and all other tasks/duties as assigned or required.
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, or Chemical, Engineering, or related natural science or science field with equivalent job experience in air, waste and water regulations.
- Preferred: Three to five years experience in a chemical manufacturing site (or related experience). Proven track record in air emission testing, emission calculations, NPDES and Title V management, solid waste, and hazardous waste programs.
- Other environmental certification and safety training such as HAZMAT responder training a plus.
- Must remain medically qualified to do job requirements. Must be able to work under intense pressure environment.
- Knowledge of Federal and West Virginia regulations, the regulatory process, the permit application process, and the procedures for obtaining information. Possess knowledge and understanding of waste disposal site contract terms.
- Monday thru Friday day position. Some overtime depending on business needs.
- May require 10-25% travel.
- May require public speaking to internal as well as external groups.
- Computer skills – MS Office, Outlook, SAP
- Understanding of regulatory requirements including Environmental (Air, Waste and Water) Responsible Care, ISO 14000, RMP, and OSHA / Health & Safety. RCRA, TSCA, DOT, LDAR, CWC, DEA

Salary Range: $59K – $109K/year
Annual Bonus Target: 5%, subject to plan provisions.
