The Functional Saftety Engineer will support the development and implementation of the Functional Safety Plan for electronic control systems, consistent with project and system architecture objectives.; this includes, having a focus on international ISO normative standards, acting as a safety interface with suppliers, and supporting system engineers and software engineers to develop technical safety solutions for agricultural equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Support the definition and maintenance of the functional safety process.
  • Participate and lead in Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for the systems integration.
  • Analyze component FMEAs from the suppliers.
  • Participate, develop, and/or lead Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA) along with product validation for various systems.
  • Participate, develop and/or lead Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) evaluations for company products and systems.
  • Participate, develop and/or lead Fault Tree Analyses (FTA) for company products and systems.
  • Act as internal technical safety assessor, and deliver Functional Safety Plan, and if needed, a Technical Safety Concept including the system requirements and system definitions, test and validation specifications for use by internal and external parties such as the software engineers, test engineers, manufacturing engineers and technical publication.
  • Understand the functional safety needs and requirements for various projects and manage the design of functional safety that will support the System Architecture teams’ objectives.
  • Support system, software, component engineers to develop/design to compliance with the safety standard.
  • Collaborate with engineers globally to understand Functional Safety concepts.
  • Collaborate with supply chain management and engineers to support the development of supplier requirements necessary to achieve functional safety goals.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, in field related to specific position.
  • Engineering fields applicable to this position: Electronic, Software, or Computer Engineering.
  • Specific skills, proficiencies, and knowledge in field related to position, as identified by department leadership.
  • Proficient use of Advanced Documentation Management Systems such as DOORS or Polarion (and or configuration management software like SVM, VSS, or other).
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety with specific on-the-job experience and knowledge of industry standards for functional safety implementation of complex electronic control systems.
  • Competent and aware of current state-of-the-art electronic-electric technologies and is eager to stay expert in domain of technology.
  • Understanding of Electronic-Electric Systems Engineering Process (“V” model preferred) and formal system development processes skills, focused on functional safety, proved by participation to the complete development cycle of at least one system development.
  • Knowledge of structured software programming language (C, C++, Model Based) and of CAN based on-road and off-road vehicle electronic-electric architectures and systems implementations.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people/audiences.
  • Willingness to participate in industry working groups for the development of technical standards.Ability to understand technical drawings, testing, and design documents to participate in verification and validation discussions.
  • Well-developed problem analysis and problem-solving techniques.
