About the Role: Our company is seeking a Hardware QA Engineer to join our team and focus on testing, validation, and NPI for agricultural hardware systems, specifically in automated weeding using the latest hardware and software from FarmWise. As a Hardware QA Engineer specializing in agricultural equipment, you will play a critical role in our product development process by ensuring the robustness and reliability of our hardware components and systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to test and validate our smart agricultural equipment and implement improvements for enhanced functionality, safety, and durability.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive testing and verification of hardware components and systems including electrical and mechanical design, sensors, controllers, hydraulic actuators, and other subsystems to identify any potential defects, bugs, or performance issues.
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures for different agricultural equipment components as well as the system as a whole. Monitor and report on test progress and extract metrics and results to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback to engineering.
  • Accurately document defects and anomalies encountered during testing, employing appropriate tools and procedures to report and track issues until resolution.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and actively contribute to refining testing methodologies, tools, and techniques with a focus on efficiency
  • Participate and lead field testing and validation of equipment to ensure its performance under real-world conditions, making necessary adjustments and optimizations.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation of test procedures, test results, and hardware specifications.
  • Collaborate with hardware, robotics, and software design teams to investigate and resolve system-level issues.
  • Ensure that all testing activities adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a QA Engineer, specifically focusing on mechanical equipment testing, testing of agricultural equipment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hardware components, electronics, and systems used in agricultural equipment.
  • Proficiency in test planning, test case design, and test execution for complex hardware systems.
  • Experience with testing tools and equipment, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

You may thrive in this role if you have:

  • Good understanding of Ingress Protection and ISO standards
  • Familiarity with Linux systems and running scripts
  • Worked with the CM manufacturers in previous roles

$140,000 – $160,000 a year

FarmWise takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location in the U.S. The salary range provided is for Bay Area candidates. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. This range may be modified in the future.
