Your Responsibilities

As a Machining Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere located in Waterloo, IA, you will recommend and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas. In addition, you will:

  • Lead team studies related to capacity, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations.
  • Lead new model preparations and procurement of tooling, gauges, new machines and more for an efficient production process.

What Skills You Need

  • Interpersonal communication skills to interact with all levels in the organization and supplier personnel.
  • Proficient with Excel, Outlook, Word.
  • 3 or more years’ experience as a manufacturing engineer in a component manufacturing environment related to turning, milling, and drilling.
  • Experience with the selection and procurement of capital equipment.
  • Experience with machine programming related to gear and spline cutting processes.
  • Experience in using SAP.
  • Ability and willingness to work variable hours to include off-shifts and overtime including weekend days if needed.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience applying gear and shaft manufacturing tools and technology.
  • Experience in shop floor process adjustments necessary to correct geometry and quality problems.
  • Experience with interpreting part prints and GD&T designations.
  • Experience with the use of AutoCAD or related software.
  • Experience with leading and supporting cross functional teams for projects of moderate scope.
  • Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis tools.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Technology field (Agricultural, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical) or related field.
