Onsite/Remote: Partial Remote Position

This position may be located in Horicon, WI or Cary, NC per the hiring manager’s discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate’s background, experience, and proficiency.

This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

John Deere Turf & Compact Utility business is seeking a Product Engineer to develop innovative solutions to support Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) programs and CI/VI initiatives for Riding Lawn Equipment (RLE) products located in Horicon, WI or Cary, NC. In this role you will:

  • Produce and/or evaluate possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications
  • Compile and furnish necessary information to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design into production. Ensure all requirements are met (i.e. functional operation, reliability, part cost, tooling cost, appearance, safety, serviceability, standards, compliance, customer requirements, BOM creation/accuracy, etc.)
  • Provide technical support to supply management, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, and marketing
  • Assist with the Product Verification & Validation planning and create the PV&V activities to request the analysis, lab and field tests required and to set the acceptance criteria

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years demonstration of being a self-directed individual with excellent organizational, root cause analysis, and problem solving skills
  • 3 or more years demonstration of leveraging excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate within a cross functional team across multiple sites and drive results
  • 3 or more years of experience using EPDP to bring systems to production (minimum of 1 design cycles)
  • 3 or more years of experience using CAD Modeling Software
  • 2 or more years of experience leading vehicle sub-system/system level design projects
  • 1 or more years of experience with Systems Engineering tools & methodologies and Six Sigma methodologies
  • 1 or more years of experience using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or similar equivalent or 5 or more year of experience
