Quality Engineer

Position Overview:

The Advanced Quality Engineer is a highly visible technical and product expert. Interfacing with internal and external customers and teams to provide technical product assistance to identify Customer solutions based on Dana’s portfolio of products: driveline systems (transmissions, torque converters, axles, wheel/track drives, and driveshafts); motion systems (winches, hydraulic pumps & motors, gearboxes); electric motors and inverters; software and controls.

Part of the global quality team, regionally supporting all Off-Highway customers in the Mining, Material Handling, Construction, Forestry, Agricultural and Specialty Equipment market segments. Ideal candidates for this position may be located in proximity to: Lafayette, IN and must be open to frequent travel to customers and other Dana facilities and customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Establish activities of product engineering, manufacturing engineering and supplier development engineers to assure reliable product and process.

Provide key quality contact for strategic customers and act as an internal support and advocate, focused on customer satisfaction.

Drive satisfaction of customer scorecard quality measures and warranty-driven improvements.

Ensure alignment between Warranty and Quality efforts with a focus on customer satisfaction and issue resolution.

Develop meaningful relationships with customers through a track record of issue resolution, increased contact frequency and target quality performance.

Provide support, work with and develop Quality at the Plants.

Develop improvement plans with the Plants in order to drive Customer score card performance improvement.

Lead containment, problem solving and corrective actions relative to Customer Complaints.

Work with the plants to reinforce the expectations and help individual understand their respective role.

Develop a strong working relationship with the customer/supplier contacts and internal teams.

Qualification/Competencies/Position Requirements:

Knowledge of Off-Highway market & the related applications, standards & regulations

Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills, including customer presentations, project review meetings and status reports

Able to work effectively in a cross-functional environment, having excellent interpersonal skills

Strong organizational skills capable of handling multiple priorities under pressing deadlines

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering field (BSEE, BSME or related field)

7 years of diversified experience in design, development engineering, or applications engineering as related to the off-highway, drivetrain/powertrain, or related mechanical industry preferred.

Experience with CAN, software, and electrification preferred.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
