Software Developer II

SimVentions, consistently voted one Virginia’s Best Places to Work, is looking for a Jr. or Mid-level software developer to join our team! This individual will be tasked with a goal of becoming proficient in all aspects of tactical system development, including design and programming of tactical program, simulator, and data analysis tool(s); root-cause and performance data analysis, document development, community interaction. This ideal candidates will grow into the replacement for retiring senior team members.

Responsibilities:

– Proactively blend with a small contractor/government software development team

– Perform assigned programming tasks in C++ and Java

– Follow established development processes and procedures; recommend improvements

– Be ready to learn and to teach (processes are not up to current standards)

Required Skills & Experience:

Jr. developer needs only to be ready to learn. Mid-level developer needs to have proficiency in C++ and/or Java, and a background in real or near-real time system programming (not website development).

Additional Requirements:

Due to the requirements in the Safer Federal Workforce Taskforce guidance and the nature of our covered contracts and facilities, all employees may need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a legal exemption with approved accommodation.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Real-time or near real-time systems development; experience in combat system development; cyber security or Machine Learning or AI is a plus

Education:

BS Degree from ABET recognized engineering curriculum. Examples include: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science OR BS Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that includes 24 semester hours in physical science or other relevant coursework.

Minimum Clearance: Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. (U.S. Citizenship required.)

Travel (if applicable): Some (Need grows with experience)

Location: On Site at Dahlgren Virginia (SEATED ON BASE)
