Software Engineer/Cyber Capability Developer (Cyber SE)

BAE Systems is offering an exciting opportunity to support an important and dynamic Department of Justice customer as a Software Engineer/Cyber Capability Developer (Cyber SE) supporting a highly capable and diverse team driving technical innovation and facilitating our customer’s most critical mission objectives. The successful candidate will have recent professional experience within the last 12 months related to conducting complex cyber operations, Software Development at the user and kernel level, and vulnerability Research and Development. The desired candidate will also have applied knowledge related to building, configuring, and managing managed attribution virtualized systems, networking environments, and data ingest management to support cyber operations.

Required Skills and Education

*The candidate must have an Active TS Security clearance and willing to undergo a Counter Intelligence Polygraph after onboarding. Candidate will not be considered without it.

Minimum Education and Experience:

BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related scientific/technical field with 5 years of experience (or MS plus 3 yrs)

Certifications: CCNE, GIAC, GXPN, OSCE or similar certification.

Skill Level- At a minimum the Cyber SE, shall have the demonstrated experience in:

  • Mixed vendor platforms (COTS, GOTS, customer developed tools)
  • Configuration of router/switch fabrics including managed attribution
  • Firewall, VPN, Tunnel Configuration
  • VMware/ vSphere/Center w/ complex networks
  • Windows/Linux
  • Scripting to provision hosts/firewalls/network. Automation (Terraform, OpenStack, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Software Engineering with modern languages (c, .net, Python)
  • Experience with restful API development and administration
  • Rapid software prototyping using novel analysis techniques
  • CI/CD pipelines and GIT version control
  • Vulnerability Research for hot endpoints and service targets
  • Delivery of end-to-end remote exploit chain, initial access, establishing footholds, implant delivery, privilege escalation, EDR evasion, lateral movement, data collection and exfiltration
  • Advanced endpoint detection and response applications
  • Software test and validation including risk assessment methodologies
  • Digital forensics and software reverse engineering

Experience- Specific knowledge in below specific functional areas:

  • Software Engineering
  • Network Design and analysis including managed attribution, command and control, and data egress
  • Configuration and management of networking environments
  • Implant delivery and initial access vectors
  • Detection Avoidance
  • Cyber Effects and Solutions
  • Reverse Engineering and vulnerability analysis of malware and other software
  • Risk Assessment of individual cyber chain components

  • Specific cyber related Government certifications highly desired.
  • Participation in capture the flag, bug bounty, speaking at security conferences.
  • Experience working on digital forensics technology or related technologies for law enforcement or intelligence community customers is a plus
  • Experience working on an Agile team
  • Ability to participate in strategy sessions for the planning, development, documentation, and review of project-related documents
  • Ability to participate and support the gathering, identifying, and documentation of the system and software requirements
