01 The Job We are looking for a talented and motivated engineer who has a passion for quality software and will take our websites and web apps to the next level. As a Senior Software Development Engineer on our Apps team, you will develop code across the whole stack. As an ideal candidate, you have a natural willingness to collaborate and do what it takes to deliver the highest quality enterprise applications. As a developer for World Vision, you are building the tools that will lead to a better life for thousands of children in the most vulnerable places around the world. At World Vision we are going to the ends of the earth, often where no one else goes, to pull up the roots of poverty and plant the seeds of change. Help us carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies by building customer-facing websites, web apps, and other digital properties.
02 What you would do
- Take ownership of solutions and project deliverables
- Write high-quality software in technologies like JavaScript with ReactJS and Node.js, HTML5, CSS, WS, WordPress, PHP, MySQL, Azure, Twilio, Auth0, and others.
- Write high-quality, WordPress themes, plugins, and APIs built to standards.
- Advocate and teach less experienced developers best practices such as Loose Coupling, KISS, DRY, BDUF, YAGNI, Separation of Concerns, Single Responsibility, etc.
- Contribute to the design and architecture of our core, online experiences.
- Contribute to the DevOps process and tool building.
- Collaborate with other engineers to deep-dive solutions before any code is written
- Collaborate with the support, QA, and digital solutions teams.
- Keep Christ central individually and corporately. Attend and participate in weekly devotions, chapel services, and regular prayer.
03 Who You’ll Work With
- Other full-stack developers on the Apps team.
- QA testers.
- DevOps and on-call staff who handles all support, maintenance, and on-call for your work.
- Technical Program Managers who will help identify and break down work.
- Product Managers and UX designers envisioning excellent user experiences.
- API developers on our backend enterprise Web Services team.
- Architects of various aspects of our system.
04 Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in programming/systems, Computer Science, or another related field (or 4 years of equivalent and relevant work experience).
- In addition, this role requires 5-7 years of web software development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expertise working with a team of developers in the same codebase.
- Expertise in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with eCommerce.
- Prefer to have PHP and WordPress experience.
- Familiar with agile/scrum and Kanban methodologies.
- Experience launching consumer-facing software solutions.
05 Salary Range & Benefits Your compensation and benefits are important to you so they’re important to us. $95,560.46 – $156,577.95.
