Your Responsibilities

As a Staff Software Engineer at Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG), you will be a member of an embedded development scrum team working with multiple stakeholders to build and implement programming solutions on John Deere agricultural and construction equipment. In addition, you will:

  • Architect, Design, and develop software to support programming of embedded controllers and displays.
  • Operate in a scrum team environment on varying projects with direction from project leads.
  • Support automated testing goals.
  • Act as technical development lead for the team.
  • Provide mentorship to junior developers.

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)

  • 5 or more years working on programming controllers and displays (excluding academia or internships) in complex vehicle systems.
  • 5 or more years working on implementing secure software solutions (excluding academia or internships) in complex vehicle systems.
  • 5 or more years of work experience (excluding academia or internships) in Linux based software development using C/C++ for embedded systems
  • 5 or more years of work experience (excluding academia or internships) with CAN communication protocols such as J1939 and ISO 11783
  • 5 or more years of work experience (excluding academia or internships) investigating software defects in unfamiliar code.
  • 5 or more years of work experience (excluding academia or internships) serving as a technical lead on a software development team.

What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)

  • Deep understanding of programming solutions in agricultural and construction systems.
  • Experience in design, development, and testing of software components.
  • Experience with continuous integration development and automated build tools
  • Experience with GitHub workflow and best practices.
  • Experience in designing APIs that maintain binarily compatibility.
  • Ability and experience working in a self-directed manor.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Minimum B.S. degree in any of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science.
