Technical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing complex major engineering Planters and Seeders projects for release to production, ensuring industry leading customer satisfaction, through superior performance, durability, quality and serviceability. Having the Farmer First mindset, focusing on exceeding farmer expectations, delivering the best return on investment for the customer, will prepare concepts, designs and feasibility studies of complex engineering systems.
Prepares development plans and is responsible for meeting scheduled dates. Acts as the development team leader by interacting with manufacturing locations and cross functional departments. Conducts technical evaluation of major systems on competitive products. Evaluates, defines and resolves design and manufacturing problems. Travels to foreign and domestic plants, dealerships, and customers to solve design problems and to evaluate product improvements. Uses technical expertise and product knowledge to play leadership role in the problem resolution process when interfacing with Test, Service, Plant personnel, suppliers, and consultants. Keeps abreast of latest technological advancements in order to create unique product design features, often resulting on patents to gain competitive advantage. Will be part of a strong and collaborative team, focused on delivering the best products for the farmers.
Perform Technical Lead function for specific area within Engineering which includes analysis, and deployment of design.
– Define technical and validation requirements to specifications to meet cost and reliability targets.
– Capable of performing FEA and other design analysis tools.
– Lead and coordinate concept discussions in design reviews.
– Coordinate contract design and drafting work.
– Development of project expenses and capital budgets for your area.
– Assist in the coordination of global AGCO site design activities.
– Prepare concept, design, development, and feasibility studies of complex engineering projects.
– Delegate portions of the project to other engineers and leads to coordinate the design, analysis and computer simulation efforts.
– Prepare development plans and is responsible for meeting scheduled dates.
– Act as the development team leader by interacting with plant locations and general office departments.
– Conduct technical evaluation of major systems on competitive products.
– Coordinate product tests on current and prototype build designs.
– Provide guidance to other engineers responsible for portions of the product project to ensure development schedules are met.
– Evaluate, define and resolve design and manufacturing problems.
– Travels to foreign and domestic plants, dealerships, and customer job sites to solve design problems or to field test locations to evaluate a product improvement.
– Uses technical expertise and product knowledge to play the leadership role in the problem resolution process when interfacing with test, service, plant personnel, suppliers, and consultants.
– Works with manufacturability teams resolving problems with manufacturing and statistical process controls.
– Keep updated on latest technological advancement and prepares design concepts and develops unique product design features which the company often patents to gain a competitive advantage.
– Travels worldwide to suppliers, production plants, dealerships, customer job sites and field test locations related to the development of engineering projects and problem resolution.
– Plans, coordinate and assign work to team members to meet specifications and project schedules.
Mechanical, Ag, or Mechatronic Engineering Bachelor’s Degree;
3+ years engineering experience in product development environment to gain mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts;
Desirable knowledge of agricultural products, in particular planters;
GD&T;
Fluency in English language;
CAD Software, desirable Creo/Pro-engineer
