Job Summary and Description:

Participates in development software primarily as deliverables for the R&D Group. Developers are expected to cover the entire scope of a software development project, from inception to completion. This includes concept development, planning, Code development, testing, release and maintenance.

  • Perform software code development, which includes, but is not limited to, writing source code, developing databases and creating user interfaces.
  • Frequently uses and applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques common for software development.
  • Develops software in accordance with end user, internal department, and EPRI corporate software requirements and procedures and test the software as needed to ensure it meets those requirements.
  • Works with internal and external customers and end users to define requirements and functionality. Communicates routinely with members and colleagues.
  • Generally implements engineering and other requirements as specified by others.

Key responsibilities:

  • Software development primarily as deliverables for the R&D Group which includes design, develop, test, document and maintain custom software solutions
  • Development of web based application, both front-end and back-end development.
  • Software code development includes, but is not limited to, writing source code, developing databases, and creating user interfaces.
  • Work with the team in providing project task breakdowns and estimations
  • Develops software in accordance with end user, internal department, and EPRI corporate software requirements and procedures. Tests the software as needed to ensure it meets those requirements.
  • Works with internal and external customers and end users to define requirements and functionality. Communicates routinely with members and colleagues.

Supports the operational efficiency of the Power Delivery & Utilization sector, including but not limited to:

  • Audits of web-based, customer-facing communications about projects and programs
  • Periodic feedback or support for internal teams tasked with software process improvements
  • Support for managing and tracking software license purchases

Develops software primarily as deliverables for the R&D Group. Developers are expected to cover the entire scope of a software development project, from inception to completion. This includes concept development, planning, Code development, testing, release and maintenance.

  • Plans software development projects, including scope definition, effort estimation and schedule estimation.
  • Manages own projects and will often acts as a technical lead for projects.
  • Develop and write artifacts such as project plans, software specification, design plans, user interface designs, test plans and procedures and other ancillary documents and forms.
  • Perform software code development, which includes, but is not limited to, writing source code, developing databases and creating user interfaces. Frequently uses and applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques common for software development.
  • Develops software in accordance with end user, internal department, and EPRI corporate software requirements and procedures and test the software as needed to ensure it meets those requirements.
  • Relied upon by internal and external customers for their expertise and assures members receive value from work.
  • Interacts with clients and potential clients to surface their real needs. Provides significant input to engineering and requirements development.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Primary developer of input for effort, schedule and scope estimation.
  • May lead less experienced software developers and small projects.

Education:

  • BS degree in science, engineering or computer science or equivalent experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 3-5 years of experience developing software programs.

Additional Job Information:

The Ideal Candidate will have at least 5yrs experience with:

  • C#, .NET, ASP.NET MVC, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, Angular, JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, Entity Framework, SQL Server, T-SQL, OWASP, Visual Studio20119, 2022, Azure, database design, web services.
  • Preferable to work out of the EPRI main offices in Charlotte, NC
  • Preferred skills include three or more of the following: C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, jQuery, ASP.NET MVC, HTML5, CSS, or SQL Server, & React. Similar tools may be acceptable.
  • In addition to the above tools, experience with building web-based applications and deployment is a must.
  • The ideal candidate will have worked with electrical engineering customers in the past, especially within the electricity sector. A good understanding of the electric energy sector is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $106,930 USD to $144,670 USD annually.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
