Job Description

The purpose of the WordPress Developer is to help us continue to ensure our web properties are just as delightful to our customers as our in-home custom solutions. This role will directly support multiple marketing websites and influence additional areas within the technology organization. The role will report directly to the Director of Web & Digital Technologies and help craft the future of our Digital Brand Experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for project development teams
  • Conduct code reviews
  • Manage code releases and release cycles
  • Contribute to feature development and bug crushing as a project requires
  • Ensure your vendor support engineers remain unblocked and productive
  • Work with the product manager to translate Brand Marketing Team requests into requirements and development tickets
  • Lead technical discussions with Brand Marketing Team
  • Prepare tickets for the development team
  • Estimate the level of effort required to complete development tickets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in digital media, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or equivalent area of study or professional experience.
  • 4-6 years’ overall engineering experience, including 1-2+ years leading projects and developers
  • 3+ years of experience with WordPress, including a deep understanding of the platform, WP CLI, and popular hosting platforms like Pantheon and WP Engine
  • Experience with WordPress custom theme and plugin development
  • Exposure or have made Open-Source contributions
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of modern WordPress standards such as Gutenberg blocks and/or Timber WP
  • 2-3+ years’ experience with:
  • Agile methodology and working closely with product managers to plan sprints, flesh out tickets and organize releases
  • Working with business stakeholders to turn business requirements into technical specifications
  • Laying out technical documentation both for the internal developer team and business operations handoff
  • Code reviews and continuous integration
  • Experience with modern JS frameworks like React and Vue
  • Mastered Git and have experience with Git Flow
